We are originally from the West Side of Oahu currently residing in southern California. After years of searching for "real" hawaiian food and finding few places that could actually replicate the flavors of our home, we decided to start producing and cooking for ourselves and a few friends. As our BBQ events got bigger and bigger many suggested that we should do this as a business. We acted upon it, opened Iwalani's Hawaiian Catering in 2002 and have been cooking for friends, family, and a wide variety of clientele ever since.
We have strived to stay close to what we do best....Hawaiian BBQ and Hawaiian Luau Dishes. Authentic luau dishes would include: kalua pig, chicken long rice, squid luau, lomi lomi salmon, raw fish, lau lau, and poi. Since poi is so difficult to get here, we dont include that on the menu but a typical luau would almost always include poi. Many malahinis dont really care for poi as it is an acquired taste that most of us have grown up with.
We are a small caterer, very mom and pops and we want to keep it that way. No "commercial" foods, no "commercial" flavors. Everything authentic, all the flavors as close as possible to what you will experience if you were in Hawaii. We hope to be able to assist you in making your next event or luau a success.
